Protein content is needed by the body to repair damaged muscle cells. Therefore, in someone who is deliberately trying to build muscle, it may be wondering where the best source of protein is.

As is known in broad outline there are two types of protein sources that can be utilized by humans that is from plants (vegetable) and animals (animals). Which one is better for muscle? The answer, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, is equally beneficial.

Data from 3,000 men and women aged 19-72 years showed that a person's diet patterns can indeed affect muscle growth. Those on a high-protein diet tend to have better muscle mass and strength than those who consume less protein.

But what type of protein is consumed according to the researchers does not seem to have much effect. Vegetable proteins and animal protein can have the same effect on muscle formation.

"As long as someone consume the protein as recommended daily, no matter where it comes from, they can improve muscle health," said study leader Kelsey Mangano, PhD, of the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

It's just that at the source of animal protein Kelsey suggested that people choose foods that are low in saturated fat and sodium. The reason is because two things are bad for health can trigger conditions such as high cholesterol and blood pressure.

"People should choose the source of protein by considering the recommendations of other body needs.Select a source of low-fat protein and sodium," he concluded.
