Overweight Sports Can Disturb Abdominal Health

Sports regularly and regularly is good for health. But make sure that exercise does not overload the body is too heavy because it is believed to interfere with the health of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract.

Studies conducted by a group of researchers from Australia called the intensity of exercise that is too heavy can damage the gastrointestinal tract. This happens because exercise with severe intensity can damage cells in the gastrointestinal tract, which makes it easy to leak and release toxins into the blood. As a result, the gastrointestinal tract is more susceptible to disorders such as constipation and diarrhea, and raises the risk of other health complications in the future.

Researchers say exercise can damage the digestive tract if done for 2 hours with a 60% VO2max level. VO2max is the body's maximum capacity to channel and use oxygen during exercise, which reflects the level of one's physical fitness. Running is one type of exercise that has a risk of damaging the gastrointestinal tract. The risk of damage will be greater if the sport is done in the hot air.

"In general, exercise can improve the function of the gastrointestinal tract, but if done excessively, exercise actually triggers the occurrence of damage to the channel and increase the risk of stomach health problems," said lead researcher Ricardo Costa, quoted by Science Daily.

In the study, published in the journal Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, researchers also found solutions for people with stomach disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. They are not advised to do strenuous exercise, but moderate exercise such as walking has good benefits.

"Therefore we recommend a gastrointestinal examination for athletes and people who regularly exercise to know the level of health of the stomach in order to avoid complications in the future," he concluded.
